Annual Registration & Pharmacy Licensing Renewal Deadline

CPNL’s annual renewal period for registration and pharmacy licensing is open. The deadline to renew is this Sunday, November 30, 2025. Pharmacy professionals are encouraged to complete their renewal by 4:30 pm on Friday, November 28, as staff will be unable to provide support, including unlocking blocked accounts, outside of regular business hours.

Late renewals will be charged an additional fee; for more information, please refer to the 2026 Schedule of Fees.

Renewals are not complete until full payment has been received. If paying by cheque, the cheque must be received by November 30, 2025.

The online renewal process can be saved after each step, and you can return for completion later. For security purposes, the system will automatically log out of your account after 30 minutes of inactivity, so please be sure to click the Save or Save & Continue buttons to ensure your progress is successfully saved.

Once you have completed the online renewal process, you can print your receipt by clicking the Invoices & Receipts link in the side menu and clicking the Review button next to the appropriate invoice.

Once your renewal has been approved, you can download your updated certificate by clicking the Certificate of Registration link in the side menu and clicking the Download/Print Certificate button next to the appropriate registration.

Registration Pathway for Internationally Educated Pharmacy Technicians

Individuals who have obtained their pharmacy technician education outside of Canada can now register to practice in Newfoundland and Labrador as per the Registration as a Pharmacy Technician – Internationally Educated Pharmacy Technicians Registration Policy, approved by the CPNL Board of Directors on October 17, 2025. The policy includes requirements for both a Standard Pathway and an Expedited Pathway, which waive select initial registration requirements for eligible applicants. The current approved jurisdictions for an expedited pathway include Great Britain.

Requirements for the Standard Pathway include registering as a Pharmacy Intern and completing practical training requirements as per the Registration as a Pharmacy Technician – Internationally Educated Pharmacy Technician Applicants Interpretation Guide, approved by the CPNL Board of Directors on October 17, 2025.

Canadian Antibiotic Treatment Guidance

The Canadian Antibiotic Treatment Guidance is a new resource for prescribers supported by the Public Health Agency of Canada. This guidance was developed by the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease (AMMI) Canada using a rigorous, evidence-based methodology. These recommendations promote judicious antimicrobial use for the management of common infections in primary care.

Consultation Opportunity for International Pharmacy Graduates

Calling all International Pharmacy Graduates!

Faisal Abdalla, a PhD candidate in the MUN School of Pharmacy, is conducting a research study: A Phenomenological Inquiry into the Experiences of International Pharmacy Graduates in Canada.

The purpose of the study is to identify systemic challenges within the Canadian pharmacy profession that affect International Pharmacy Graduates. This research seeks to inform policy and practice changes by fostering a more inclusive, anti-racist, and supportive environment that enhances not only the integration of international pharmacy graduates and their sense of belonging but also considers the quality of care provided across the diverse Canadian healthcare system.

Participation Eligibility Criteria:

Licensed pharmacists in Canada who studied pharmacy outside Canada
International pharmacy graduates living in Canada (any immigration status, and at any stage of the PEBC process)
International pharmacy graduates living outside Canada, currently in the process of Canadian licensure (any stage after document evaluation)

Every voice matters. By taking just a few minutes to participate, you are helping shed light on the challenges, achievements, and journeys of international pharmacy graduates in Canada. Your input will help build a stronger understanding of our community and support future advocacy for fairness, inclusion, and professional growth.

CPNL staff are here to assist and support you. If you wish to meet with a staff member in person, please call to schedule an appointment before visiting our office. Having details regarding your inquiry will help us appropriately prioritize and prepare to answer your question if we need to collect additional information before calling you back or meeting with you. If you are unable to reach the staff person by phone, please leave a detailed message. Voicemails are regularly checked, and staff members get email alerts when a message is left on their phone line.

Keeping Contact Information Up to Date

Registered pharmacy professionals are responsible for ensuring that the contact information on their registrant profile, including email address and practice site, is accurate at all times. CPNL primarily uses email communication to send newsletters, renewal reminders, practice site assessment information, professional development audit information, calls for interest for committees, and other alerts. If the email address on file is incorrect, important information may be missed and/or disclosed to the wrong person. If your contact information changes, please update your information on file by logging into the Registrant Portal.
