Pharmacist-Ordered Laboratory Tests Standards of Practice
The following Standards of Practice describe the minimum expectations for pharmacists when ordering laboratory tests for patients and are intended to promote consistency in the provision of this service to the people of this province.
As per the Pharmacy Regulations, 2024 and the Standards of Practice, pharmacists must complete approved education and receive authorization from CPNL prior to ordering laboratory tests. The education program and the authorization process is under development and expected to be available by January 2026.
